Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars Trophy Guide & Roadmap
Step 1 - Complete Suikoden 1 on Hard difficulty while recruiting all characters
Hard mode is available right from the start and is not very challenging at all, so I advise you to start the game on Hard.
Te only thing you need to worry about is the Gold The Stars of Destiny Assembled trophy, which requires you to recruit all 108 characters in the game. It doesn't really depend on the true/good ending, but be sure that your allies don't die! Some of them can be executed, so be careful to spare them when prompted (Kwanda Rosman and Milich Oppenheimer). Mace the Blacksmith can also be missed if you complete Battle of Shasarazade before you get him.
The only other trophy to be aware of is Bronze A Painter for the Ages. You can miss out on it if you accidentally sell or discard the collectible items you need to complete the objective. Just store any paint you find in your castle.
Step 2 - Complete Suikoden 2 on Hard difficulty while recruiting all characters
First of all, you must beat the first game and save "Clear Data" after the credits finish rolling. When you start Suikoden 2, you will be prompted to load. This is required to unlock the side quest for Bronze Soul Eater.
You do not need to complete the game's true/good ending, but you need to recruit all 108 characters for Gold 108 Stars Together. Make sure that no one dies!
Clive is the only missable character (trigger an optional scene with a woman named Elza in the city of Muse early in the game, right before you leave on a mission to spy on an enemy camp. When you receive that mission, walk around the east part of Muse until you trigger the cut-scene with Elza).
When you start, disable "Event Timer" by going into the options and setting "Stop the Event Timer" to ON. The timer is tied to a side quest needed for Silver The Howling Voice Guild.
Always save your game before participating in Cook-Off competitions with Hai Yo. By losing any of these battles you will not be able to rematch, and you may fail the side quest and the related trophy (Bronze The Path of a Chef). I never tried if this was fixed in the remastered version, but just a heads up.
Another missable trophy is Bronze The Promised Place near the very end of the game. After the final battle, you must follow a specific path to unlock this trophy, but by following the guide you will be warned about it.
Final Step - complete all mini-games and anything you may miss at this point.
Full in-depth guides with all collectibles can be followed to unlock all trophies without missing anything in the game:
Simply collect all other trophies to unlock Platinum.
You can miss couple of Stars of Destiny (recruitables throughout the game), and there is a cutoff point when you must have them all to unlock certain scenes near the end of the game. It's also important that no one dies (except the scripted allies).
By following the next guides, you should have everyone recruited, as well as all other trophies:

When starting the game, make sure to choose "Hard" for difficulty. You can't change it during the game later, but it's not really hard. Just be aware that you can't start on lower difficulties and change to Hard, that will not work for the trophy.

Automatic story-related trophy.
After you complete Sindar Ruins and go to Muse afteward to initiate the first part of this 8-part questline:
- Go northeast of the Rune shop for a scene with Elza.
- Go further to the north to see a scene with Clive.
- Go back to the entrance of the city for another scene.
This is highly missable trophy if you're not careful - make sure to stop the Event Timer from the Settings as soon as you start the game. If you don't, you'll have to reach each quest part under certain hours spent in the game - which sucks! Do yourseft a favour, stop the timer and play the game normally while doing all quest parts chronologically.
By following the next guides, you will complete everything there is in both games:
To complete this trophy, first, you need to recruit Ivanov and give him all 7 paint collectibles:
- White Paint - Inside Lepant's Mansion in Kouan
- Blue Paint - Sold at the Item Shop in Rikon
- Yellow Paint - Sold at the Item Shop in Teien
- Black Paint - Liukan's House in Liukan's Hermitage
- Red Paint - Scarleticia Castle
- Green Paint - Neclord's Castle
- Pink Paint - Moravia Castle
By following the next guide, you will complete everything there is, alongside with all paints (you can search the page to easily located detailed locations of each requirement):
Rope climbing is a minigame in Suikoden II after you get your headquarters and pick the name for it. It's on the north-eastern castle wing; talk to the solider near the cliffs on the north.
Rope Climbing minigame exploit: When you press Roll Dice and the dice is visible on the screen, wait for around 1 sec and press X. This seems to roll 5 almost every time. It's a nasty minigame, but the exploit still works in this version.

Karen is a recruitable in Suikoden II, in Kuskus town a bit later.
To get her to join, you will need to beat her at dancing. You get to watch Karen dance, then you need to memorise her pattern and repeat it. Remember, you also need to press button in ryhthm, which makes it even more difficult. You can try to press button on clap sound to make it easier. Practice, and good luck.
Stage for Karen to join:
Triangle, Square, Circle, X, Triangle, X, Circle, Square
After she moves to your HQ, find her there and beat 5 stages of dancing to unlock the trophy. This is maybe the hardest trophy in the game, but you can use some tricks to write down all buttons before you start. When she shows you the sequence, DO NOT press anything, the game will stop and wait for your button input. Write everything down, and follow alongside with clapping rythm sounds.

You can fish at docks in Suikoden II by speaking to Yam Koo. Rules are simple - spam X (confirm button) when fish bites, and pump it to keep the green line in between the highlighted bar, or don't press it if it goes down. It's 100 potch per try, and you can either store what can be cooked or sell - do what you want.
Basically, you will need to catch up to 3 same fish until the next one appears. You don't need 3 Boots for Salmon to appear though. It might take a while, but it's super easy:
- Stonefish
- Whitefish
- Shellfish
- Blowfish
- Squid
- Shrimp
- Boot

Talk to Tony in Suikoden II in your HQ and you play can play Whack-A-Mole minigame.
From 1F room where the stone tablet is, just go east and you will reach it. To play it, you need to give Tony some seeds first (which unlocks A Lush Field trophy), then you must beat it on Hard to get the trophy. Practice, and try to do so. I tilted my controller on the side so my buttons match the screen - it took me around 20mins to get it.

After the final boss battle of Suikoden II, you will wind up back at Headquarters and be faced with a decision that will lead to one of the game's multiple endings. To complete this trophy, you will need to do the following:
- Make sure you have all 108 Stars of Destiny and that no one is dead expect the scripted characters (Kiba and Nanami)
- Save before entering the command room in your HQ, then enter it.
- If you want the normal ending choose "I understand. If you want the True Ending (and this trophy), choose "I can't do it."
- Teleport to Kyaro. Head north to Tenzen Pass for a scene.
- At the fork, head west. The first dialogue you make doesn't matter.
- During the duel, always choose Defend.
- After the battle choose "There's no reason we must fight."
- During the duel, always choose Defend.
- After the battle, pick either option at first, but then continue to choose "I can't do that." (the first option) for couple more times.
- If you've met all the requirements for the good ending, Leknaat will appear.
- Afterward, choose either option.
- Head down the path for one final surprise.
By following the next guides you will complete everything there is and find details about this trophy as well:
The best way to do it is to win 5 Celadon Urns from the rope climbing mini-game. You need 1 for the recruit, and 4 can be used to exchange in the exchange shop when the rate is high enough in Gregminster.
Check the trading post and see the price for Celadon Urns. The prices are random, so we need to earn 100k by selling 4 Urns that we should still have left from rope climing minigame. If the price is not good, close the game and reload - and retry.

Recruit Tessai in Suikoden II, find all 4 hammers and give it to him. You can then sharpen weapons up to max level - level 16.
All hammer locations (short overview):
- Forest Village (northwest of Greenhill). The equipment shop - talk to the guy right of the shop keep. Pay 2000 Potch for Iron Hammer.
- Head north into Gregminster Palace. Talk to the solder just to your right in the small room for Copper Hammer.
- Head into the Blacksmith class in Greenhill and talk to the boy on the right for Silver Hammer.
- Rare finds in Item shop in Sajah at the end of the game.
By following the next guides you will complete everything there is and find details about this trophy as well:
Recruit Mukumuku at the beginning of the game in Suikoden II, then when you get to Greenhill area on the map, you can collect the other 4 squirrels.
You can do this at any point, but it's much easier a bit later in the game. Squirrels join from the World Map. You need to recruit them in order. They don't count as Stars of Destiny, but you need them for the trophy.
Have Hero travel the world solo, but you can bring Mukumuku with you. When you stand in the locations listed below, there's a chance the squirrel will automatically join your party. You don't have to enter battles at all. It's easier to travel alone with Mukumuku for every squirrel, it seems to boost luck, so do it like that. It takes around 5mins of waiting. Enter the town, for example Two River, exit and make few steps towards Greenhill. Stand there, and that goes for all below locations (just do a few steps away from the location and stand on the road).
- Makumaku - On the road between Two River and Greenhill
- Mikumiku - On the road between Greenhill and Forest Village
- Mekumeku - On the road between Greenhill and Path to Matilda (Greenhill-Matilda)
- Mokumoku - In the clearing south of Forest Village, enter the forest to the left when you start going south. Stand at the end, the furthest you can go west.

In Suikoden II, recruit Yuzu and then buy livestock from different areas and towns in the game, then bring them back. There are much more farm animals than the 4 types required for the trophy.
Simply follow the guide to find them all (and you can search by "farm" or "animal" for quick locate):
The Telescope is available in Suikoden II once your Castle reaches Level 3 (at 62 total characters recruited.) It is located in a tower directly south of the Library (from the entrance to HQ, left screen). Climb the tower and use the telescope to unlock the trophy.
You need to recruit sculptor Jude in Suikoden II, then find deity parts and bring it to him. By using 4 of the pieces, you will unlock the trophy and get a reward.
The parts are from Dragon, Rabbit, Unicorn, and Turtle (search "Dragon Plans" or simply "Plans" in the guide to easily locate the details):
Start by recruiting the farmer Tony in Suikoden II. Giving him at least one packet of seeds to plant on the castle farm unlocks the trophy.

There is a minigame that takes place at Hai Yo's Restaurant at HQ in Suikoden II. Over the course of the game where you will have to win several cook-offs. Save before each one. In the original version you couldn't continue after faling, so, just to be safe.
In order to access the minigame, head into Hai Yo's Restaurant. A contestant may be here or may not; ready for a cook-off, which will lead to an automatic scene. You can choose to delay the cook-off in order to save. Do so.
The mini-game itself is mostly random. It largely depends on the judges randomly selected to score the meals. It takes about 1 hour for the next contestant to arrive, and that hour must be spent outside of HQ. I was usually recruiting other characters and doing this every now and then.
For the recipes, you can go with:
- Appetizer: Salad + Soy Sauce = Island Nation Salad
- Main Course:
Tempura + Mayonaisse = Amazing Tempura
Rolled Omelet + Salt = Large Rolled Omelet - Dessert:
Cake + Mayonnaise = Cheesecake OR
Ice Cream + Sugar = Pudding
Note - Be careful not to defeat Lester, the tenth opponent, until you've done the sidequest in Gregminster, else you'll miss out on a Recipe. You want to do the Gregminster sidequest before defeating Lester in the cook-offs.
The guide covers all steps, so you can just follow it:
This can be obtained after beating Luca Blight (in a Duel). Go to Banner Village.
Head to the path to the right of the Inn. Speak with Gremio.
Head back into Banner village and talk to Ko, the boy dressed up as Hero from this sequel (yellow scarf, red clothes). Choose "Yeah."
Talk to Gremio again. Then, talk to Tir. Pick any options, but choose "Okay, let's go!" when prompted.
Tir will join the party! He's not a Star of Destiny, as mentioned, but his Soul Eater Rune is extremely powerfull if you want to use him in party.
Head up the path through Banner Pass. Go all the way where the save point it, and comfront bandits. Choose either option.
Continue and interact with Ko.
Boss: Worm / Poison Moth - Tough one, but even if you lose, protagonists will finish him of.
Continue on to Gregminster. Leave the palace for more scenes. After dinner, begin to head out of the McDohl household.
When speaking with Cleo, choose any options. When you can, head to the castle.
Choose to be taken back to Banner Village. Head into the village for one last scene.
Now you can get Tir to join at any time... you just have to go to Gregminster to get him. Still, not bad!

Unite Attacks are a special option that allows two or more characters with similiar affinities/weapons to execute a two or more person combination attack. The first and easiest Unite Attack you can carry out to complete this trophy is Gremio and Pahn's Talisman Attack, which is available with the default party very early in Suikoden 1. To use this attack, manually select "Unite" from the battle menu with one of them. You can also do it in Suikoden II with Hero and Jowy.
