Control - Side Missions


Side missions can be done during your playthrough or after you finish the game. Its easier after you finish the story, but if you want to solve as you go there is nothing wrong with that. Some content by doing them is better than the main story, plus it grants some abilities plus APs.

A Merry Chase
Start: When you need to visit Janitor’s Office shortly after the beginning of Mission 3 "Directorial Override". You will have to go through the door next to him (security lock 2). Continue, up the stairs, left at the end of the hallway and down the elevator. Close to here is the file you need for the "A Mery Chase" quest. Just in the room opposite of his office, you will enter new area and start the quest.
Solution: When you enter Astral Plane you will need to cleanse Merry-Go-Round Horse.
Reward: Evade Ability

What a Mess: Burn the Trash
Start: After speaking with Janitor Ahti in his office, find the quest on the board.
Solution: Go to the Furnace Chamber room in Sector: Maintenance, pick up radioactive barrels and toss them into the furnace.
Reward: 2 AP, some weapon mods and crafting materials

A Good Defense
Start: To get the Shield Ability, you will need to pick up the "Home Safe Tests" file (NSC Energy Convertes Entrance teleport in Maintenance, then go to NSC Energy Convertes room, climb the left stairs as you enter that one, pick up the file on one of the computers) to start the quest "A Good Defense".
Solution: Go to Maintenance -> Central Maintenance -> Field Training to begin mission. Another path is by going north from Atlas Champer teleport, across the bridge, up the northwestern stairs, across the hall into the Field Training room and just straight. Press the button and now you have limited time to shoot all the targets and reach the goal before the time runs out.You need to shoot targets to progress and finish the whole stage under 45sec. It will require few attempts but its very doable. Use basic gun for fast shooting.

A Captive Audience
Start: You will need Astralnauts Information collectible to start the quest, which can be found on a piece of furniture near the Control Point in Parapsychology on a desk.
Solution: Now, to finish the "A Captive Audience" quest, you need to enter the doors that are behing you (facing the stairs from the teleport with your north side). Just go down, and enter the Hypnosis Lab doors on the right. You will see some opponents here and your goal is to reach area behind the fence. To get there, go down the corridor to the control room. Puzzle here require you to pain same picture as you see on the door. Simple enough. Enter object of power to reach Astral Plane, finish to get reward.
Reward: Compel Ability

Fridge Duty
Start: Unlocks after completing the Main Story Mission "My Brother’s Keepe". You can't finish it before that.
Solution: Go to 4th Floor of Panopticon in the Containment sector, next to checkpoint. You will find Phillip behind glass staring at Altered Item, a Refrigerator. After finding Dylan’s cell, go back to Phillip. Now go back to Panopticon Supervisor, Frederick Langston, which will open the door to reach Phillip. Go back there, interract with fridge and defeat giant boss to unlock new ability.
Reward: 3 AP, and a new side mission

1:37 - Talk to Frederick Langston and go back to Dylan. You can now interract with the Fridge

Langston's Runaways
Start: Automatically after Fridge Duty quest
Solution: You will have to find certain items and cleanse them:

Japanese Paper Lantern - Found in Sealed Threshold Corridor which you can reach by completing "A Matter of Time". Dispose the clock, you can use Charge to do that, then cleanse it.
Traffic Light - 4th floor of the Panopticon, room 716. Move when the light is green, otherwise you will have to start over. Cleanse the object when you reach it.
Hand Chair - Find it in room filled with Mold in Medical Wing of the Containment sector. Attack it with telekinesis and cleans afterwards.
Moving Letters - Found in Dead Letters in Executive. You need to interract with 3 letters, 2 found on lower floors and 1 in upper floor for which you need Levitation ability. The trick is to wait on one spot and interract when letter moves there. Just wait and spam button when letter travels towards you.

After you cleanse all 4, go to Langston to receive a quest for another two objects.

Dummy - Find dummy in Prime Candidate Program. Proceed to the end of the room, and reach room full of mannequins. You will need to interract with right manequin, which is on top floor, left side of the room. Just interract will all of them and you will find it.
Flamingo - Travel to Sealed Threshold Corridor. Find rubber Flamingo, interract, use levitation to jump and avoid waves. In the end purify it, enter the Astral Plane and defeat boss.
Rubber Duck - You need to interract with the duck, and to do that you need to enter from the opposite side of the hallway from this room where the duck is. Go there and observe the door on the right. Use your telekinesis to unlock the doors and look up - use levitate to reach the upper path. Follow it to reach the duck. Now you need to chase the duck in the hallway and catch it as it stands still. It may take some patience.

Back to Langston to finish the quest.

What a mess: Clear the Clog
Start: Find the quest on the board in Janitor Ahti's office in Maintenance Sector. It should be available around Mission 4.
Solution: You need to go to the Maintenance Sector and into the Pumping Station. There will be a puzzle with removing batteries, placing them and removing Clog (killing some enemies).
Reward: 3 AP and other What a mess quest are now available.

Old Friends
Start: Talk to Arish in Central Executive after Mission 6 "A Brother’s Keeper".
Solution: You need to bring back 6 pouches to Arish by killing certain enemies:
Remus can be found in NSC Energy Converters.
Guy can be found in Atlas Chamber.
Cho can be found in Ventilation.
Hazzard can be found in Black Rock Processing.
Hepstonall and Thompson can be found in Blackrock Quarry and NSC coolant pumps.
Reward: 4 AP

Old Growth
Start: You need to find Dr. Underhill in her lab in somewhat secret area. First you need Levitation ability, travel to Central Reseach and reach the ground floor. Just on the side on the stairs there is a hidden crumbled wall which you need to enter, reach bottom, find lab, enter, speak with Dr. Underhill.
Solution: You will need to find 5 types of Mold:
Type A Mold - near the checkpoint. Check for a corpse behind the tents and follow the path to reach a cave which contains Type A Mold.
Type B Mold - In central big room, next to the pit with poison, you will find a pathway leading to the toilet.
Type C Mold - Not far from the toilets reach a TV room. Check on the table.
Type D Mold - Bellow metal stairs in big central room.
Mold 1 - In big central room, enter poison pit to the bottom, follow hallways and eventually you will reach Mold -1, a boss. Tough battle, use telekinesis to throw exploding objects in tentacles for big damage.
Return to Dr. Underhill to finish the quest
Reward: 4 AP

0:01 - Old Growth Quest Start in Central Executive (Speak with Emily in the Board Room. I started if after main mission 6, but you can do it earlier)

Self-Reflection
Start: You need Mirror Supplement colletible which is located near Security and Logistics. You will go there as part of main mission, towards Prime Candidate Program. There’s a room protected by some metal grids, near metal detector. Inside, pick up the note (In the Containment sector, from the Logistics teleport go north through the doors, across the room through the metal bars and when you enter the next big room, turn right and climb the stairs. You need to enter the security doors lv.6. Down the stairs and into the room on the left).
Solution: You must find secret lab with a mirror. In Research there’s an area called Ritual Division. Next to that is a room called Synchronicity Lab. Inside that lab is a room reachable by using Clearance Level 6 card (Mirror Testing room). Inside, you need to set some pannels to right positions. There is a left and a right side where you need to press buttons. Go to ones on the left, point yourself that they are in front of you, and set them from left to right - open, open closed. Panels on the right; when they are in front of you, set them from left to right - open, closed, closed. Now find mirror in the middle and enter Astral Plane.
Interract with few more mirrors in next area and you will have to beat esseJ. Beat her, cleanse the mirror and return.
Reward: 4 AP

What a Mess: Talk to the Plants
Start: Finish "What a mess: Clear the Clog". Find the quest on the board in Janitor Ahti's office in Maintenance Sector.
Solution: Find and speak with 6 plants (yes, speak with them) in Central Research. Start from top, explore and interract with plants (there will be an option to do so when you are close to right plant).
Reward: 4 AP

What a Mess: Clear the Mold
Start: Finish "What a mess: Clear the Clog". Find the quest on the board in Janitor Ahti's office in Maintenance Sector.
Solution: You need to clear the mold in Medical Wing. There is 6 of them. When you find mold, shoot it to destroy it. It's that bubble type of object sticking out of walls or cellings.
Reward: 3 AP

What a Mess: Even More Mold
Start: Finish "What a Mess: Clear the Mold". Find the quest on the board in Janitor Ahti's office in Maintenance Sector.
Solution: You need to remove the Mold in NSC Coolant Pumps. Use levitation to reach upper part of area and look for Mold and destroy it. 6 of them needed.
Reward: 4 AP and some materials

Mold Removal
Start: Finish "Old Growth". Speak to Dr. Underhill (instructions how to get there are under that quest).
Solution: You need to clear enemies in 3 areas:
Parapsychology - Find enemies in Extrasensory Lab. Enter big room where you captured that enemy behind door, room with wooden figures. The last target is in the passageway leading to Parakinesiology.
Ritual Division - Use the elevator in Ritual Division to travel to the top floor and kill enemy. Second target is in the Synchronicity Lab on the upper level. Third target is in the bathroom just next to the Luck & Probability room.
Central Research - First target is behind door "1". Another target can be found in the bathroom. To reach 3rd target you need to use levitation to get to isolated room. You can spot it easily since that small gap has green mold at wall.
Reward: 2 AP

7:04 - Return back to Dr. Underhill to finish the quest and unlock the Mold Removal quest (there are doors at the bottom of the pit where you beat Mold-1, in case you are wondering how to get back)
7:44 - Parapsychology Mold Hosts
9:24 - Central Research Mold Hosts (3 to find)
10:34 - Ritual Divisiton Mold Hosts (3 to find)
12:08 - Return back to Dr. Underhill to finish the quest (3 to find)

Mr. Tommasi
Start: After finishing Mission 7 "The Face of the Enemy". Speak with Emily Pope in Board Room in Executive.
Solution: He is in Containment sector, in that big area with a moving bridge. There will be a new room on the side, opened. Enter and defeat him and his minions. Tough battle.
Reward: 3 AP and some materials

4:31 - Mr. Tommasi quest start (After finishing Mission 7 "The Face of the Enemy", speak with Emily Pope in Board Room in Executive)
4:56 - Tommasi Location and boss fight

What a Mess: Take a Break
Start: Finish all "What a mess" quests. Find the quest on the board in Janitor Ahti's office in Maintenance Sector.
Solution: Relax on the couch, simple as that.
Reward: 4 AP and Janitor's Assistant outfit

A Matter of Time
Start: Go to Containment Secotr and proceed to Logistics. Next to Shelter door in the upper part you can find Horowitz. Talk to him, enter room next to him, pull the rope few times.
Solution: In Hotel, check the clock at reception. You need to stop the clocks in other rooms to that exact time (but you can stop close, it will count if you hear the sound when stopping). After finishing the Motel, you will reach Sealed Threshold Corridor and find a medic there. Follow him while he opens doors. You will wind up back in Logistics, get back to Horowitz, defeat him and talk to medic again.
Reward: 2 AP and some materials. Quest "The Enemy Within" starts.

0:01 - A Matter of Time quest start (Next to the Shelter door in the upper part you can find Horowitz. Talk to him to start the quest)
0:36 - Hotel Puzzle (You need to ring and stop the clock at the same time as the one in the hall shows)
2:33 - Find the medic and escort him all the way back to Horowitz
6:26 - He was stuck for me at this point, you can go back and forth until he decides to go to the exit door
7:53 - Horowitz boss fight

The Enemy Within
Start: Finish "A Matter of Time" and quest automatically starts.
Solution: Go to Sealed Threshold Corridor and enter the Shelter. Use Levitate to continue and interract with Anchor item. Kill the boss, you need to toss object when he opens his mouth.
Reward: 3 AP and some materials

9:20 - Finishing "A Matter of Time" unlocks "The Enemy Within" quest
10:13 - The Anchor Boss Fight (Living Archetypes Trophy)
