Resident Evil 8 - All Collectibles Guide


There are 145 collectibles in total, wow!

You can find 20 Goats (goat statues you need to destroy), 47 Files (Inspect and read them), 11 Recipes (buy and find them), 16 Weapons + 22 Customizable Weapon Parts, 10 Outhouses (small outside structures for which you need to open the door), 19 Castle Windows (during the Castle section). I will prepare the progress through the chapters, so every video will cover one story section. I will also try to include trophies as I go. The best way to collect is if you play on Easy or Standard, I did it on Standard difficulty. 

All collectibles carry towards NG+ (except Outhouses and windows for the window-related trophy in Castle Dimitrescu), so you can pick up what you've missed on your next playthorugh. 

Also, note that many collectibles gets blocked if you progress through the story too much, meaning for example if you beat the boss of some section you can't go back inside anymore. For example, some treasures needs to be taken care of as soon as you can do it, otherwise they will get blocked.

Prologue

0:01 - File 01 - Fridge Memo - Kitchen fridge before taking the baby upstairs
0:16 - File 02 - Old News Clipping - Behind the stairs in the room at the end of the hallway when you go upstairs with the baby
0:47 - Trophy - Goooaaalll! - Kick the ball into the next room when you leave the baby in the bed
1:39 - File 03, 04 - Ethan’s Diary & Medical Checkup Report - Room next to the baby's room (the one with the laptop)

Village (1st Visit) + Underground Mines

**Village, 1st Visit**
0:01 - File 05 - Mission Briefing - As soon as you gain control after the crash
0:12 - Outhouse 01 - When you reach the village, enter the house in front of you, exit through the other door and find it closely by
0:41 - Recipe 01, 02 (First Aid Med & Handgun Ammo) + Knife - Unlocked automatically when you enter the village
0:59 - Weapon 01 (LEMI Handgun) + Key Item (Bolt Cutters) - Automatically during the story
1:15 - Push comes to serve Trophy - Can be done anytime, but I used the first opportunity. Block with L1 and spam L1 afterwards

2:08 - File 06 - Scribbled Note - First house on the left after you meet up with the old woman (after ambush part)
2:27 - File 07 (Goat of Warding) Placard + Goat 01 (Cynic Trophy) - Graveyard, check the altar
2:52 - Goat 02 - On top of the church in the Graveyard
3:08 - Key Item - Maiden Crest - Inside of the church in the Graveyard
3:23 - Goat 03 - Cornfield after Graveyard, on top of the roof on northwest side of the area
3:53 - Outhouse 02 - After cornfield and the scene, jump out of the window and through the wall and look on the right
4:17 - File 08 - Dangerous Creatures - As soon as you enter the house during the next scene, check the couch
4:32 - Key Items - Truck Key + Screwdriver - Automatically during the story section. Inspect Truck Key to get Screwdriver
4:49 - Key Item - Demon Crest - Before leaving this place, open the altair with Screwdriver

**Underground Mines**
5:02 - Goat 04 - Right hand-side in the Vineyard with scarecrows after you leave the mines
5:21 - Recipe 03, 04, 05 (Shotgun Ammo, Sniper Rifle Ammo, Mines) - Buy from merchant Duke, you meet him before you enter the Castle section

Castle Dimitrescu

Note that some areas get locked after you pick up corresponding Mask Key items. For example, B2 area where Dimitrescu severs your arm will be blocked after you pick up the Mask of Sorrow. Be careful and try to pick up items as you go, this guide is made for that, otherwise you might miss some collectibles and you will have to gather them in NG+.

2:33 - 1st Sister fight and File 15 (A Cook’s Diary) - 1F, Kitchen, check the shelf next to the bucket

14:49 - Labyrinth Puzzle 01 (Get the Ball Rolling Trophy) - Merchant Room, before using all 4 masks
16:07 - Repairer Trophy (Treasure 01 Location) - Reach Hall of Pleasure 2F, solve the puzzle, combine Azure Eye with Silver Ring, before using all 4 masks
19:44 - Hooligan Trophy (Destroy 19 windows in Castle) - Do this before placing the 4 masks to exit the Castle
22:58 - Lady Dimitrescu fight - Place 4 masks to exit the Castle and you will fight her

Village 2nd Visit, Beneviento Mansion & Village 3rd Visit

If you are wondering why the vines are blocking you from reaching Angie's treasure, or why the Broken Slab is still behind the locked doors; it means you progressed the story too much. This pieace needs to be picked after you beat Angie's Doll boss, so when you go back to Village from that moment you need to take care of that then. If you progress too much, you missed your chance.

**Village 2nd Visit**
0:01 - Key Item (Dirty Flask) - Pick up after Dimitrescu fight from the altar
0:22 - File 21 (Craftsman’s Note) & Outhouse 03 - After you leave the previous area, check the hut and behing the hut on the right side
0:57 - Hunter Trophy
1:24 - Key Item (Winged Key) - Underground 1F, Pick up after scene (can't miss it even if you want to)
1:49 - Squawk Shot Trophy - Kill 5 Flying Crows, you can kill one, restart and keep doing until the trophy pops, so you get it out of the way
2:22 - Trick Shot Trophy - This is a good opportunity to get this trophy
2:46 - Goat 07 - Village, Lone Road, bellow the stairs that leads to the drawbridge
3:11 - Recipe 06 (Pipe Bombs) - Buy from Duke for 2500 Lei when you meet him in the Village again
3:33 - File 22 (Leonardo’s Message) - Southeast house from the Graveyard, right of Maiden of War label on the map
3:59 - Outhouse 04 - Backyard of the previous house
4:19 - Outhouse 05 - Through the hut where you need to push the shelf to progress, after hut on the right side
4:41 - Key Item (Jack Handle) & Weapon 04 (M1911 Handgun) - Workshop, north house. Lock combination is 070408 (you can check it by looking through the window)
5:31 - Outhouse 06 - West Old Town, After crawling under the tractor, kill new type of enemy and check near the Iron Insignia door
5:49 - Outhouse 07 - West Old Town, turn around from the previous outhouse and destroy the lock on the doors. Check inside
6:18 - Goat 08 - West Old Town, same yard, on top of the wooden hut
6:31 - File 23 (Note on the Luthier’s House) - West Old Town, same yard, left of entrance of the house in that yard
6:53 - Key Item (Well Wheel) - West Old Town, hut through the Iron Insignia door before ascending the ladders (note that wells don't contain collectibles)
7:08 - Outhouse 08 - West Old Town, climb the ladders outside the previous hut, drop down in the next yard and find the white outhouse
7:39 - File 24 (Eugen’s Diary) & Key Item (Four-Winged Key) - West Old Town, from the previous outhouse climb the ladders and drop into the next building
8:57 - File 25 (Church Computer) - Church, enter from the Graveyard to find the computer inside
9:19 - Strategist Trophy (Kill 3 enemies with 1 attack) - Cornfield house. I wanted to get this out of the way, this moment and place is not bad to do so, since you have a save nearby and needed weapon from the well
10:08 - Goat 09 - Graveyard, through the Iron Insignia door northeast of the church, check the right-hand side
10:34 - Luiza’s Treasure (Luiza’s Necklace & Luiza’s Key) - Luiza’s House, go there through the cornifield and inspect Luiza’s Necklace twice to find the key
11:28 - Luiza’s Treasure Location - Lone Road, one of the side rooms there
11:49 - Goat 10 - Suspension Bridge, that big bridge towards Beneviento's Mansion, look left

**Village 4th Visit**

17:42 - Finest Fish Location - While you are here, check the oposite of cave to find this rare fish
18:06 - Medium Rare Trophy & Riverbank Treasure Puzzle - Use the boat to travel north, enter the basement on the right
20:21 - Hidden Well Cart Puzzle - Before returning back, lower the bridge and use Well Wheel after the save house
23:02 - Leader of the Pack Trophy - Cornfield near the Graveyard and Church, prepare bombs and bullets
25:49 - Rare Animal (White Pig, Quality Meat) - Cornfield, behind the house where the well area is
26:17 - Pidgeon Blood Ruby - If you need money, check the southwest town corner, you can use Crank to reach the ladder and top of shed for this item
26:52 - Goat 15 - Otto’s Mill, before going towards Stronghold, go left before entering mines and check under the house
27:20 - File 34 (Ernest’s Diary) + Treasure - Otto’s Mill, red door room after defeating the mini-boss with the axe inside the house

Stronghold & Factory & End Game

**Stronghold**
0:01 - Fast Reflexes Trophy - On your way to the Stronghold you will meet some archers. When they shoot arrows at you, pull out your knife and deflect the arrow

**Heisenberg’s Factory**
6:13 - Quit Hanging Around Trophy - Factory B4, when you enter the factory and reach B4 where the merchant is, shoot the rope of a corpse in the distance
6:53 - Weapon 08, 09 (V61 Custom & SYG 12) - Factory, Duke merchant. You can buy this in NG+, don't worry about it now
7:13 - Key Item (Relief Mold & Relief of a Horse) - Factory B4, Foundry, pick up in room behing enemy with a drill, take it to the machine at room entrance to create a new key item and use on the wall just next to it
8:09 - File 37 (Development Note 1) and Factory Map (Lower Levels) - Factory MB4, room after the one with the missing power and generator
8:45 - Key Item (Cog Mold & Large Cog) - Same room as previous file and map. Take the Cog back to machine in Foundry where you can create Large Cog (use it on the generator to restore power)
9:38 - File 38 (Development Note 2) and Factory Map (Upper Levels) - Factory B2, after climbing through the big grinder shaft room, check the next room after climbing the stairs
10:07 - Labyrinth Item 4 (Ball Mold) - Same room, push the cart on the other side and crawl through the duct to find it in the room afterwards (we will develop this later in this section)
10:39 - Goat 17 - Factory B2, Ventilation Duct, after the scene with the ventilation fan, turn back and check the end
11:20 - Key Item (Key Mold) - Factory B1, Ater using the elevator, check in the next room (we will take this to the machine soon)
11:34 - Goat 18 - In between B1 and B3 when riding the Duke elevator (The side where the hanging corpses are). Equip Shotgun and ride from B1 upwards, it's easier
11:51 - Heisenberg’s Key & Iron Horse Ball & Weapon Part 05 (M1851 Wolfsbane) - Take the Cog back to machine in Foundry, where you can get the key and the Ball item + take a walk into the Operator room for the weapon

**End Part**
27:47 - Mini-boss with spiked maul - Shoot him in the back while running around him to open the opportunity
28:38 - Goat 20 (Heretic Trophy) - After the scene with big fetus hanging from cave ceiling, look on the right, there are spikes and the statue is at the bottom of the angel statue
29:26 - Files 42-27 (Bookworm Trophy) - Room after the room with big fetus hanging from cave ceiling, check the tables for 6 files and the trophy!

38:12 - NG+ Unlocks - All your progress carries over into New Game+ (Inventory, all weapons, all customizable weapon parts and all other Collectible Progress but without Outhouses & castle windows)

NG+ unlocks (Weapons, Weapon Parts &  Recipes)

Some weapons needs to be bought from the Extra Content Shop after the story (not all, so save up on some):

  • WCX (30,000 CP). Needed for Veteran Gunsmith Trophy
  • Karambit Knife (Cost: 10,000 CP). Not needed for Veteran Gunsmith Trophy, but recommended for Knife-only playthrough.
  • Rocket Pistol (Cost: 80,000 CP). Needed for a Recipe, you must buy it. It unlocks after beating game on Village of Shadows difficulty.

Some weapons needs to be bought from the merchant in NG+:

  • V61 Custom (Cost: 120,000 Lei). Needed for Veteran Gunsmith Trophy. You can actually buy this on your first run towards the end of the game in Factory.
  • SYG-12 (Cost: 180,000 Lei). Needed for Veteran Gunsmith Trophy. You can actually buy this on your first run towards the end of the game in Factory.
  • S.T.A.K.E.  (Cost: 300,000 Lei). Needed for Veteran Gunsmith.

And then we have the Recipes:

  • Magnum Ammo (Cost: 10,000 Lei). Needed for All Recipes Trophy. You must have bought a Magnum first for this to appear.
  • Rifle Ammo (Cost: 10,000 Lei). Needed for All Recipes Trophy. You must have bought an Assault Riffle first for this to appear.
  • Rocket Pistol Ammo (Cost: 10,000). Needed for All Recipes Trophy. You must have bought the Rocket Pistle first for this to appear.

Finally, there are Weapon Parts, which you must equip after buying:

  • LEMI High-Capacity Mag (Cost: 9,000 Lei)
  • M1911 Improved Grip (Cost: 12,000 Lei)
