Star Ocean: First Departure R - Easy and Fast Level Up Guide

You will for sure need some extra strength for beating all game optional bosses. The dungeons can also be tough, so let me present you a good strategy how to level up easy and fast.

Buy the Silver Trumpet in Eckdart (costs 300,000 Fol). Buy 20 Feather Pen/Conductor's Batons (can be also bought in Eckdart). Also buy 20 Magic Canvases if you plan to create experience cards (it's not required, but gives more exp that way).

Choose the person you want to give the Specialty Music to (preferably to someone who has at least one of the talents Rythem Sense/Listening).

Upgrade Music Knowledge and Performance to level 4 for that person.

Now, you to you invetory, Skills -> Specialty -> Music -> Compose and use the Trumpet until you learn the song "The Devil's Aria". Do this step again until you learn the secret talents Listening and Rythem Sense (if the person you use for this doesn't have it yet).

Optional - If you want extra exp, create a Experience Card through Skills -> Item Creation -> Art (Card Sketching, Aesthetics) -> Magic Canvas. When you do, replicate with Skills -> Item Creation -> Replication (Imitation) -> Experience Card until you have as many as you want.

Restock on Conductor's Batons if you need.

Exit to the world map and prepare (equip non-elemental weapons and some amulet that prevents petrify). Save your progress.

Go to Inventory -> Skills -> Specialty -> Music -> Perform -> The Devil's Aria then exit your inventory. Fight Medusa Eye.

You can use that Experience Card to get double the exp (does not stack - meaning if you use more than 1, it will not get you more exp at the end). With 4 party members in the battle, you will gain 103500 EXP and with card 207000 EXP, which is neat and you will gain levels in no time.

Keep fighting this enemy (after permorming the music) and grind as much as you want.
