News | Alone in the Dark (2024) - Speedrun Playthrough

This article is a no-heal playthrough with Edward under 3h. You can probably do it faster with Emily, but I wanted to try with Edward.

If you get hit, reload the last quicksave and continue - you will need your health for the final boss and some challenges, make sure you don't heal at all and save if needed.
Play on Easy and it's advisable that you've collected everything before this run in order to easily pick up shotgun without worrying about collectibles.

I will note down some of the puzzles along the way (like safes and talisman combination), to have it in the overview. The video is below.

If you aim for the shotgun and you don't have all collectibles, you will need 3 collectibles:

• The Rubber Stamp is in the Reception room on the small wooden reception bench.

• At the back of the Drawing Room, which you visit during the main story, you can find the Dog Collar from the Lost Children set on a small table next to the wall.

• In Batiste’s Room, the Fountain Pen Lagniappe is on the small table next to the wall.

Chapter 1

• Emily/Edward Conversation (Chatterbox)
  After the cutscene where you’re forced to go to Jeremy’s Room, talk to Emily/Edward 3 times before picking up the next collectible.
• Batiste Conversation (Chatterbox)
  During the first other world visit, you will meet him during the story.
• Talisman Puzzle
  Pick up the Talisman on the table and then interact with the object that was next to it and put in the code 358.

Chapter 2

• (Edward Only) Ruth Conversation (Chatterbox)
  Talk to Ruth in the Mezzanine 3 times.
• Talisman Puzzle is 643, then visit Jeremy Room
• Talisman Puzzle in the basement is 975, then leave the boiler room
• Talisman Puzzle in telescope room is 947, then go to the dinning room

Chapter 3

• Juan Conversation (Chatterbox)
  At the start of the chapter
• Safe on the second floor next to the Tommy Gun (Left 4, R5, L4)
• Talisman puzzle is 258
• Safe from the start (9 left, 1 right, 3 left)
• Safe in Empty Room (6 left, 9 right, 2 left)
• Talisman in the attic, combination is 641

Chapter 4

• (Edward Only) Grace Conversation (Chatterbox)
  Talk to Grace on the Pearl River Bridge twice.
• Emily/Edward Conversation (Chatterbox)
• Talk to Emily/Edward 3 times in Dr. Gray’s Apartment before using the False Book.
• Emily/Edward Conversation (Chatterbox) / First Meeting – Transcript (Clue) / The Snake Dagger (Clue)
  Talk to Emily/Edward another 3 times after using the False Book and uncovering the secret passage.

Chapter 5

Talk to everyone before the final boss battle.
