Like a Dragon: Ishin! - Completion List

Completion List is the main completion list you will have to complete. It's a longer and harder one out of 2 (well 3, including the substories list). It gets unlocked early in the game, and it's good to start working on some stuff asap, as later it will be more painful.

This guide will help you locate and help you complete all required challenges inside this list.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! - Substories

Minigames

Minigames are back! They are not that hard this time around, but there are no cheat items, so you will have to do them on your own.

Singing - Awarded "Preferred Performer" or higher on all songs.

Singing is played at Utamaruya in Fushin. There are 7 songs, and you must reach 90+ score (Preferred Performer rank) via the "Passionate Backup" difficulty to complete the requirements. It's a good idea to exit after each song, and to take another one in a separate session to also raise the bond with the Karaoke owner.

Not much to add here, keep pressing the buttons in a sequence. The only help I can give you is to mash buttons when you have another one coming in the new line fast. It's easy to miss the first ones in the row. But, overal, this minigame is very forgiving, I did it all on my first or second tries.

Buyo Dance - Awarded “First Class” or higher on all songs and difficulties.

Buyo Dance is played at Nichibuza in Rakunai. It's basically pressing D-pad or right-side buttons when the pulse bar reaches the outer margin. You need "First Class" or "Buyo God" rank to complete the list. Also, when you fill up the flower on the upper right, press R1 (Showstopper) and use the directions to fill the special moveset. Do this as much as you can.

It's not really that hard.

Pitching in at the Udon Shop - Awarded "Divine" rank.

The Udon Shop minigame is played at Umai Udon in Fushimi. To get the "Divine" rank you must earn about 5 Ryo total in one session. The easy way is to play on the higher difficulty, pause the game before the timer, write down the buttons, memorize them, and just do them when it's time.

Courtesan Games - Won every Courtesan Game on every difficulty.

Courtesan Games are a set of 3 minigames that are played at Yamabuki in Gion, by interacting with the courtesan Anna. You need to pay 1 ryo to participate, which is a lot, so it's advisable to save your game before trying out these minigames.

The first time you enter, you will have to beat 3 challenges without losing in any. That will unlock Like A Dragon In Heaven trophy, but you still have to beat all 3 minigames on Regular and Asura difficulty. These are unlocked as soon as you enter this location after beating the first 3 challenges.

Sake Showdown is a game of drinking. You need to tap X and circle button to control the bowl. The goal is to keep the bar as as you can to the right side, so that Ryoma can drink faster. After each round Anna will also drink, and she will fill her bar a bit. The faster you are in the next rounds, the less her bar drops. You need to fill her bar towards the top. The only issue is at Asura difficulty, but it's not really that hard.

Rock, Paper, Scissors is the easiest minigame of 3. There is no real challenge in higher levels, it's almost identical. Before laying out your choice, observe Anna, she usually forms her hand with the choice she's going to use against you. I was trying to win 3 times, then use the triangle to slow down the time and to finish her even easier.

Sensual Healing - welcome to hell. It is an easy minigame, basically you shoot the heart in a Space Invaders style and when the heart burst, you are onto the next stage. You need to do it 3 times to win, without losing all your lives. Spending triangle/special move is advisable when you're stuck. It's also better to use it, and then die, that way you get your special in the next round after you die. Regular difficulty is not that hard, but Asura is something else. So far this minigame is the hardest thing in the game. On Asura - you need to keep shooting and keep going from right to left, from left to right. When the pattern changes (after crossing sides for around 4 times), you need to hold down the X (shoot) button, and when the heart starts to move - shoot it. 3 or 4 times and the stage is done. First stage and the second ones are easy, but the last one gave me some issues. It's actually the easiest one, but the big letters are in the way so it messes up with you. It's still the same pattern.

You might want to Save before retrying to save some money, or you can keep spening it to raise Gion level, which you need to do anyway (if you hadn't already).

Chicken Races - Earned 10000 points or more in total.

Chicken Races are found in Chicken Racing building in Rakugai. This is the first one you will probably get, as earning money early and fast can be done here. More details, how to win every time, can be found here:

Cee-lo - Earned 7500 points or more in total.

Cee-lo can be played at the Gambling Den in Rakugai.

So, the game goes like this: Each player throws 3 dice into a bowl. If the two of them match (preferred), the third one will count how many points you get. There are also specific spelical hands. Just bet on 200 points, make a save before if you need to, and keep playing until you earn enough points.

Cho-han - Earned 7500 points or more in total.

Cho-han can be played at the Gambling Den in Rakugai.

It's basically a game of evens or odds. You can only do this, you don't have to play the other mods. Place a bet, choose evens or odds, and if you guess it, you win.

Oicho-kabu - Earned 7500 points or more in total.

Oicho-kabu can be played at the Gambling Den in Rakugai.

It's a card game where you want to collect cards that score closest to number 9. The one who has a better hand (closer to 9) wins. It's mostly luck-based, so just bet max amount and hope for the win. You can ask for more cards to reach closer to 9, but be careful. There are also Ten-Ten-One combinations, or Three of a Kind, but that is really hard to get. Just save, bet max on the highest difficulty and try to have cards that sums closest to 9.

Koi-koi - Earned 7500 points or more in total.

I hate this one. Koi-koi can be played at the Gambling Den in Rakugai.

You need to match cards from the table with the ones in your hards. If you can, the card with have red border, and then you can take. When you take cards, you need to form some combinations, so check with pressing the square button to see what you can combine if you're stuck. When you strike a combination, you can call Koi-Koi and continue until you get more, but the opponents gets one, he can win if he don't call it. My advice is not to call it to win the round.

Play on the highest difficulty, and in settings of the minigame menu change the betting amount to 60. The rest is up to luck. I just brainlesly combine what I can, and I pray this game gets removed from future titles.

Poker - Earned 10000 points or more in total.

Poker can played at the Gambling Den in Rakugai. You don't have to play all variations of it, simply play Texas Hold Em until you earn 10000 points.

I was just betting the max amounts and raising whenever I had one pair at least (the higher the better, for example, 2 kings). Or I was folding if after the third card on the table I had nothing.

Mahjong - Earned 35000 points in a single match.

Mahjong can be played at the Mahjong Spot located in Mukurogai.

This one is not that hard, but as there are no cheat items, you need to learn to play it. You can play at Beginner table. At the end of the rounds, you winning needs to be over 35k, which isn't that bad. The best way is to call Riichi (when you're missing the last combination in your hand, which gives Ron if the last peace appears from any other player's hand or yourself). On every round press the square button, if you can call Riichi it will give you the option. Also, the same for Tsumo (when you have it all, press square, select Tsumo to win).

Calling Chi, Pon, or Kan is not advisable if you don't know the rules. Avoid that.

If you’ve played other Yakuza games you might be dreading Mahjong, especially as this game has no cheat items, but the completion requirement this time isn’t too bad. You need to finish a game with 35,000 pts before end-of-match bonuses, so this basically means that the total shown above your hand needs to be at 35,000 when the game ends. You start at 25,000 at the start of the game, so this requirement is basically to get one decent hand and don’t walk into rons from the other players.

The best combinations are full tripples (1,2,3 of the same type of sticks, same 3 numbers from the same sticks...). I usually do this, always aim for combinations of 3, and build upon that. It's easier to get 5 or 8 if you have 6-7 of some color, then it's to get another 5 if you have 5-5. I love Mahjong!

Shogi - Won 3 times or more in total.

Shogi can be played at the Shogi Parlor in Rakunai. It's like a variant of chess, which I really dislike.

Play the challenge match, number 1. You can replay it 3 times, it's really easy to win.

  1. Move the Bishop on the left (third row from the bottom), place it on the right, in the third row from the top diagonally.
  2. Move the Bishop on the right (third row from the bottom), place it on the left, in the third row from the top diagonally.
  3. Move the right Bishop to the top row, the left-most place, next to the king
  4. Take the figure on the left from the second row from the bottom, and place it in the second spot from the top for a win.

Another Life

Most of the stuff you'll be doing here is farming, cooking, fishing, and other stuff like picking eggs and petting cats and dogs. It's not so grindy as some other parts of the list, but it's still a bit tedious.

Farming

To complete the Farming section, you will have to grow certain vegatables in your garden. To make all plants available, purchase all of the "Green Thumb" items from the Virtue exchange (you will need 20,200 Virtue in total). To make Ginseng appear, purchase all of the Farm upgrades as well, and I advise you to, to speed up the process and maximize the output of crops you can harvest. You can speed up grow even more by using Fertilizer.

Check Completion List, and check which plants/vegetables you need to harvest 100 times and first focus on these. After that, focus on the ones you have the least, as you will need them for turning in the orders, plus for the cooking.

Fishing

Simply catch every type of fish. Additionaly, you need 10 Bluefin Tuna, and 1 Gold Grade Bluefin Tuna. All you need to know is inside the Fishing Guide here:

Cooking

For the Cooking section you will be cooking one of every type of food in your house. To make most of the rest available, purchase Typical Kitchen Upgrade, Home Cook’s Kitchen Upgrade, and True Chef’s Kitchen Upgrade at the Virtue exchange for a total of 2800 Virtue. Plus, there is one additional recipe (Revolutionary Croquettes) you need to find, and that one is a reward for maxing out the bond with Bond with Revolutionary Chef.

When you cook, you can make Normal or Premium versions of food - you can do Normal ones, Premium ones are just healing you more.

You can buy fish and food items from the Fushimi market, or if you like me miss Honey, you can find some in Rakunai, Shijo Street, Don Quijote store.

Trade

The Trade section is where you need to grind a bit. You will need to turn order inside the house by interracting with the cabinet. Then you can spend your vegetables, or items, or food to send it on the market via Haruka. You will need to send 200 orders for Dilligence Completion as well, which combines with this one. The good news is that they reset every time you interract with the cabinet, which means you can keep sending only the vegetables until you do this fully.

The more you complete the orders, the more money you get for the later ones. You will earn 100 ryo much before you fulfill 200 orders.

Pets

There are 6 possible pets you can adopt. For the completion list, you will need to pet them. To be able to adopt the pets, purchase the Cat Bed and Dog House upgrades from the Virtue Exchange for a total of 15,000 Virtue. Dogs are outside, cats inside the house, of course, after you complete their sidestories, max out their bonds and give them names.

Complete substories 16, 17, 28, 36, 54, and 55. Details can be found here:

Haruka’s Trust

There are 4 special interactions you can have with Haruka after reaching certain trust levels. Usually, after raising 1 level of her petal bar, you can trigger a new event inside the house. The final one requires max trust. The first one is automatic and mandatory, the rest are optional, but required for the completion list.

I will note the ones you must unlock, the optional ones:

  • Interract with the fire in the middle of the room
  • Check and enter the bath (the door inside the house, next to the cooking board)
  • The bed, sleep when it's night time (I had max trust and it was night time, only then the last one triggered)

Meals

This section of the completion list requires you to order every food item from every restaurant in the game. The good news is that there isn't a limit for eating, only limit is on the drinks; some restaurants allow only 1 drink per visit. The rest you can order in one go. There is also an entry in Dilligence Records for eating 200 times in restaurants, which you can speed up by just ordering the cheapest meal and keep repeating that.

Equipment

This is the most grindy and tedious part of the completion list. You need to craft ALL equipment, meaning sword, Guns, bullets, armors etc. I will require a lot of money, grinding and effort, so I would advise you to leave this for the last thing you need to complete.

Details and tips can be found in the next topic:

Masters

This includes training sessions with each of the 3 combat masters, plus Scarecrow Chateau and Cannon Coaching.

William Bradley (Gunman Dojo), Ginryu (Swordsman, Wild Dancer Dojo), Komaki Munumitsu (Brawler Dojo) details:

Professor Juubei

Professor Juubei is the owner of the Scarecrow Chateau, located in Rakugai. There has been some reports that the progress here resets due to some bug. It's recommended that you try and complete this fully in one go.

Your goal is to destroy Scarecrow enemies before the timer runs out. Some challenges only allows you to use a single fighting style, makin Brawler the most difficult one. You can always come back later when you're stronger, but after finishing the game I did this and it wasn't so hard. You need 3-Star rating for all challenges, and of course, higher levels unlock when you complete the lower challenges. The Gunman style is the best when you can use them all.

Professor Shinbei

Professor Shinbei is the host for Cannon Coaching, located on the east riverbank in Mukurogai. It's like a baseball, but with swords and guns, and much, much easier. You need to tackle 6 challenges (3 with sword, 3 with guns), and you need to get Gold rank on each. Press X when the cannon ball gets near you when using a sword, or when in the aim zone shoot when using a gun. I would say that this is easy, I did everything on my first attempt.

Wanted Men

There are 16 Wanted Men entries in your list, and all of the details can be found here:

Battle Dungeons

Battle Dungeons can be accessed in Mibu, in the Barracks, which is your base in the game. Talk to the guy in the first courtyard by the counter to enter them (this gets unlocked during a certain story events).

There are 10, 10 and 20 challenges you need to beat. You also need to beat the dungeons 100 times for Dilligence Records, which means an extra 60 needs to be replayed after you completely finish them all (well, 59, you must revisit the last one twice).

By completing all 40 levels you unlock Amon fight. Replay the last challenge again to fight with Amon for the first time. Then leave, talk to the guy behing the counter again to unlock the final fight with Amon in the Temple (lower east bridge path in Rakunai, then just forward to reach the temple gates where the button prompt will appear for a final fight).

Arena

Arena can be accessed on the second floor in Mukurogai. You need to beat all types of opponents in the Knockout challenges, usually 5 different opponents are shuffled per a challenge, but there are 5 per each challenge, which means you just need to beat all 5 without dying. The ones with "?" are the ones you are missing for the entry, so it's pretty easy to get them all before even starting the challenge.

You need to beat them, not just uncover them. And you don't even need to do the 100-man challenge, it's not needed for anything.

The final level of Knock-out challenges is unlocked when you complete:

  • All training with Ginryu
  • All training with Komaki
  • All Wanted Men Missions
