Like a Dragon: Ishin! - Money Farming

One of the best, and also the earliest point/way to make money in this game is chicked betting in the Chicken Racing den in Rakugai. The better way is in the final dungeon, but you might need to farm some money before that point. It's still quite random as it requires some luck, saving and re-loading, but it will do the trick.

Chicken Betting Money Farming details while using the glitch

There is a way to save your tags and still win every time. Place 300 Tags on all Dividend List combinations of 3 and 4 (Triple Exacta, Quintuple Exacta), finish the betting, and point yourself on Exit option in the menu. Do not exit, simply wait for the timer to hit 0, and at the moment when it hits zero, confirm to quit the betting. The race will start, but the invested tags will be returned to you. If you manage to place bet on all mentioned combinations (it takes a bit od speed), you will win every time.

0:00 - Chicken Betting location and access
0:20 - Buy as much Tags as you can for 3 and 4 digit combinations
2:11 - Exit the betting when the timer reach 0 to save tags. The race starts after that anyway

Chicken Betting Money Farming details

Visit the Chicken Racing den in Rakugai. Buy as much tags you can for the current money you own at the moment. The target you aim for with tags is to have 6900 tags per betting round. Save before trying anything! Do so after every big win, or whenever you see fit (so you can reload if you lose the tags).

What you want to check when you bet (Buy Tickets option) is the stats on the chickens and the payout for each one. The higher the payout number, the more you get if you win, but the chances are lower. Some chicked are good for short, some for medium, some for long courses (you see which course you're betting on the the upper-left corner). Dividend List menu is where you see combinations that wins the bet. Basically when you buy more tickets for more outcomes, the more chances you have to win. The idea here is to place max bet (300) per every chicken 2 and 4 on all pages under this list. That means 2-4 in the Quinella column, go to next page Double Exacta and select both 2-4 and 4-2 options, then go to next page, the Triple Exacta, and select all 2-4-x/4-2-x options, then in Quintuple Exacta select all 2-4-x-x-x/4-2-x-x-x options (all options that involves chickes 2-4 or 4-2 combinations). You earn 30,000 up to 50,000 tags on win at the cost of 6900 tag investment.

There is also a condition ("Cond" column under Divident List) of each chicken. This means the boost of speed that come in handy on long distance races. If your chickens 2 and 4 had down arrow for the condition state, it's more likely they will lose due to other chickens boosting throughout the race. You can simply back out, go back to the shop menu, try again to refresh the conditions.

When you're satisfied with your earning, go to the Gambling Den nearby. They use the same tags here, which means you can just use the tags from Chicken Racing to buy items from the Gambling Den. Most useful ones are the Golden Gun (one of the best guns in the game), and extremely overpowered in Chapter 3. There are also Platinum Plates, which sell in Ibusu Pawn for 3 Ryo 7500 Mon each, plus you get a ton of Virtue for this step. The best way to save time is to buy Silver hammers, they also sell the same as Platinum Plates, but you can hold more than 100 in your inventory.

So, 1 win is around 30,000-50,000 Tags, which you can sell for 20 Plates/Silver hammers for 30,000 Tags = 75 ryo (75,000 mon). Pretty neat!

Happy farming and good luck!
