Like a Dragon: Ishin! - Diligence Records

Diligence Records is like a second completion list you will have to complete (as if the first one is not enough!). It's a shorter and easier one out of 2 (well 3, including the substories list). It gets unlocked during Chapter 2.

This guide will help you locate and help you complete all required challenges inside this list.

Adventure

The Adventure section in the Dilligence records is related to interacting with people, shops, minigames, interracting with wells, shrines, pots... It's advisable to start with some stuff early, to reduce the time you have to spend on it later.

Garrulous Goshi & Rablin’ Ronin & Socialite Samurai: Talk to people or animals 500 times.
This is a simple interraction with either people on the street, people at restaurant, shops, bonding frienships... It will come almost naturally.

Restaurant Rookie & Regular & Aficionado: Eat at a restaurant 200 times.
This one is nasty. I had 100 when I maxed out all restaurant bonds. You can make it quicker by just visiting restaurants and exiting.

Scrounger & Rummager & Hoarder: Obtain 100 items from pots.
You can find pots all over the place. If you see a lid on the pot, you can interract with it and get an item. Do this 100 times. Note: start this early and examine all pots you can as you progress through the game.

Ninja of Ninja & Swami of Kami & Shinobo of Shinto: Pray at shrines or jizo statues 100 times.
Jizo shrines are blue icons on the map where you can Pray, or use Storage. Pray 100 times. Also start this one early and do this as much as you can, or if you're stuck later on, you can revisit Another Life with the boat and you can then pray every time you re-enter.

Play Spotter & Mate & Maker: Play minigames 100 times.
This means entering and exiting any minigame. As you also need to get rid of some minigames for 100% completion, most probably you will have 60-70 play times, so just continue with this until you hit 100.

Gobbler & Gorger & Glutton & Gourmand: Eat food from your inventory 400 times.
Buy a bunch of Hattai from Ichikura General Goods, it's one of the cheapest food items you can buy. Eat from your invetory 400 times (buy, eat, buy, eat...).

At Death’s Door & Alive and Kicking & On the Mend & Fit as a Fiddle: Use 200 medicinal items.
Same as Gobbler above - keep buying medicial items (Fushimi market has a shop with these), use them and repeat. Most likely you will already have a good number if you healed during your playthrough.

Uplifted & Elevated & Spirited Away: Travel by palanquin 30 times.
Palanquin is a taxi in this game. They are marked on the map. Simply travel 30 times (which isn't really a lot).

Relaxin’ in Rakunai (Lv.3 & 7 & MAX): Raise your reputation level in Rakunai to MAX.
Reputation in each area is raised by interacting with the stores, events, and by purchasing and selling items. You can also raise it by spending Virtue points at Shrine, but that is the slow way and takes a lot of Virtue points for each region.

Rakunai is the northern side of the map, so if you did the Chicken racing, and sold some Platinum Plates to Ebisu Pawn Rakunai, it's likely that your reputation for this region is already high.

Rockin’ in Rakugai (Lv.3 & 7 & MAX): Raise your reputation level in Rakugai to MAX.
Rakugai is the center area on the map. You can raise the reputation by buying weapons from Rakugai Arms Dealer, and then donate to Kurogane smithing. This is convenient way as you need to max out the smithing anyway.

Muckin’ through Mukurogai (Lv.3 & 7 & MAX): Raise your reputation level in Mukurogai to MAX.
Mukurogai is the isolated area on the east center of the map, which you can enter from southeast Fushimi or via the north Mukurogai bridge. Keep buying items from the arms dealer here.

See Me in Fishimi (Lv.3 & 7 & MAX): Raise your reputation level in Fushimi to MAX.
Fushimi is the area on the south on the map. You can also sell Platinum Plates to Ebisu Pawn Fushimi to raise the reputation easy and fast.

Goin’ Around Gion (Lv.3 & 7 & MAX): Raise your reputation level in Gion to MAX.
Gion is the area to the east if you follow the northern of 2 bridges on the northeast on the map. There are only 2 restaurants here, which means this area is the worst when it comes to reputation. I had huge ammounts of Virtue points, so I was spending these for improving Gion reputation level little by little. Othewise, keep eating in restaurants.

Spendthrift & Ryo for Ryoma & Shinsengumi Swanky & Bakumatsu Baller: Spend 500 ryo.
Don't even worry about this one, for smithing you will spend much more.

Tourist & Traveler & Globetrotter: Walk 150 km.
This counts walking, sprinting, and movement in combat (battle dungeons). It should come naturally.

Runner’s Stitch & Second Wind & Runner’s High: Sprint 50 km.
Sprinting  is activated by pressing "X" button. There are couple of Virtue entries that prolongue your running distance, so make sure that you unlocked all of these, and keep running as you travel through the game. It's a bit grindy, but you will have to walk a lot, so it should happen sooner or later.

Wellness Check & Well Worth It & All’s Well That Ends Well: Draw water from well 50 times.
There are only 3 wells in the game; one is south of Rakugai Arms Dealer, one just outside the entrance of the Shrine in Rakunai (northwest on the map), and one in the back of Shinsengumi HQ (Barracks). Pull water from them every time you go near them, there is a cooldown on how frequently you can pull from them. It's the best to start this one early.

Proper Postboy & Capable Courier & Distinguished Deliverer: Deliver packages for the Frequently Lost Courier 20 times.
The Frequently Lost Courier is a bond character you can start a bond with after completing its substory 53. He is just to the east of Teradaya Inn in Fushimi. He tells you where you need to deliver, so it's not that hard (you will get around 10 deliveries for maxing his bond, then you need that much again to complete this entry).

Lumberjoke & Lumberjerk & Lumberjacked: Chop 300 logs.
In the southwest corner of Fushimi just next to the palanquin you can find a man who needs help to chop logs for substory 52. You need to chop a total of 300 for his substory and bond.

Another Life

The Another Life is your second house. It involves fishing, cooking and few things you can only do here (playing with cats, dogs, collecting eggs..).

Green Thumb & Farmhand & Grower & Farmer & Agricultured: Harvest 1500 produce items.
There is a "Harvest All" option from the menu where you place what you grow. You can also use fertilizer to speed up the process. Simply by entering and exiting the house you can fertilize again. Keep on returning here to harvest your crops.

Ginseng Grabber: Harvest 50 ginseng roots.
Gingeng is the worst crop to grow. It takes a lot of time and you can harvest only a couple of them. The good thing is that it takes only 1 space to grow it, but still, when you unlock gingeng (unlock all Farming Virtue entries first, then it will appear), keep farming it.

Cabbage Clutcher & Taro Taker & Tomata Tugger & Strawberry Snatcher: Harvest 100 (item).
Same as ginseng, just plan all of these and keep farming them. I did this a little by little.

Cookbook Curious & Kitchen Colt & Dinner Director & Chef Savant & Mealtime Messiah: Cook 100 times.
By the time you do all cooking-related stuff, you will hit around 50 cooked meals. That means grinding. I just cooked Homemade Pickles over and over again, while I was growing Cucumbers outside. It takes only 2 to cook the meal, so it should be relatively fast.

Hound Helper & Canine Caretaker & Dogg Do-gooder: Play with your dog 30 times.
This can be any interaction with your dogs. To get dogs, first you need to finish their substories, and max out bonds. Then they leave and go here. Keep interracting with dogs each time you return to Another Life.

Feline Feeler & Cat Counselor & Kitty Cogniscenti: Play with your cat 30 times.
This can be any interaction with your cats (all cats are inside the house). To get cats, first you need to finish their substories, and max out bonds. Then they leave and go here. Keep interracting with cats each time you return to Another Life.

Scramblin’ Man & Omelette You Finish & Nugget to the Top: Collect 30 eggs.
To have chickens, purchase the Chicken Coop-related options for virtue from the virtue shrine. Coop is on the left when you enter Another Life, and each time you exit and go back with the boat, the eggs are replenished. It makes this easy and fast.

Back in Business & Family Trade & Industry Leader: Fulfill 200 trade orders with Haruka.
Trade orders are filled by interacting with the cabinet in the house, then exchaning items from your inventory or warehouse to fullfil them. I was just focusing on the first few vegetable entries; they are the most common to get (by growing outside or buying from shops). Once you turn in the order, next time you enter this menu, it will be refreshed, mostly with better rewards. As you also need to sell for 100 ryo in total to pay of Haruka's house debt in full, this should get to around 100 order, then you need 100 more to finish it.

Apprentice Angeler & Astute Angler & Authoritative Angler: Catch 100 fish.
Catch any 100 fish. As you need to catch all kinds of fish, 10 tuna and 1 golden-grade tuna, this can get up to 70, then just fish whatever is the fastest.

Bluefin Beginner: Catch 10 tuna.
For this requirement, you need to specifically catch 10 Bluefin tuna (East Coast (Sea Fishing)).

Bluefin Boss: Catch a big tuna.
A "big" tuna is basically a gold-grade Bluefin tuna (check it when it shows size). It's a bigger version of regular tuna, and it happens quite often (at least that was my case).

Sweet Dreams & Freshening Up & I’m Listening: Deepen your trust with Haruka and enjoy a restful, refreshing, and relaxing Slice of Life.
These 3 requirements are for seeing extra scenes in the house in Another Life with Haruka. First, deepen your trust with Haruka (the bar that fills when you visit, cook, or when you fulfill orders with her), then interact with the futon inside, bath doors, and the bed. I only triggered the bed scene at night, and the other 2 during the day. I had maxed out Haruka's bar before the last one.

See You Soon: Meet Haruka and enjoy a bountiful Slice of Life.
This one is unlocked automatically when you unlock Another Life during the story.

Friendships (Shops)

In shops, you either have to buy something, order something to drink/eat, talk to an NPC, or play some mini-game. It's really easy to progress bonds with shops, so there is not much to add here other than giving you all the entries (just order a single food item, and keep repeating to max out the bonds):

  • Bond with Utamaruya Owner (Karaoke) (once per Karaoke singing session. Start, let the song pass, repeat. Inviting Haruka doesn't progress this one).
  • Bond with Umai Udon Owner (Udon minigame) (by eating, finishing substory 41, and then by helping during the minigame. You also need 10 ryo in total to get rid of all requirements, plus the Divine rank. You can pause the screen before it's your turn, snap your screen and cheat to get it).
  • Bond with Maijo-sensei (Buyo Dance minigame) (Enter, dance, the bond raises. As you also need to get passing grades for each song for the completion list, so this should happen naturally. At the end, get passing grade on Fubuki Kouta song to max out the bond for the special event dance)
  • Shinto Priest (unlock "Shinto Priest’s Exchange" for Virtue points, then you can buy a single item with your virtue from the Priest's shop, exit, go to the shop again, buy...)
  • Akari (the Shrine Maiden) (She appears during Chapter 4 in the Rakunai shrine on the northwest on the map. Keep talking to her as you progress, and eventually you should max her out. She will call you out on few talks before it ends).
  • Hanamaru Udon (Keep eating in this restaurant).
  • Anna (the Courtesan) (This increases from playing the Courtesan Minigames. As you work your way towards completing all entries for this one, it should happen)
  • Bond with Mahjong House Residents (Mahjong) (Keep playing any Mahjong game, and try to exit the parlor. This will raise the bond a bit. Repeat until the main guy asks you to play on the Advanced table. Play (you can quit), and the bond will be done).
  • Bond with Cho-Han Dealer (Cho-Han) (Play a game of Cho-Han at the Gambling Den, then try to leave the building. After that, the bond increases every time you quit playing Cho-Han, so start playing, make one bet, then quit. For the final event, the owner offers you a game where you bet 10 ryo, getting back 20 if you win. Save and try then).
  • Chicken Race Receptionist (Chicken betting is where you will most probably farm for money, so this one should happen naturally. Enter, place bets, do the race, exit outside, repeat).
  • Ichikura General Goods (Keep buying items. At the end, you will have to catch someone during the chase mission).
  • Sushi Zanmai Chef (Keep eating. When he mentiones a tuna, leave, and then go back to trigger a scene and max out the bond)
  • Bond with Fukufuku Pub Owner (Keep ordering stuff, and later events will lead to some scenes during which anwer with "No", and "Water would taste better")
  • Ecchudo Apothecary (Buy some stuff to unlock the bond. Then you can choose to endulge in experiment medicine. Heal fully, do so, and survive couple of experiments. From time to time you will have to leave and return back to contine. By raising this bond you unlock Longevity Pills, which you can buy after maxing the bond).
  • Bond with Uji Tea Parlor Girl (Keep ordering 1 order at the time, then towards the end she will leave to break up with her boyfriend. When that happens, move away from this area and return back to trigger a scene after which you need to fight and win).
  • Don Quijote Employee (Keep buying 1 item at the time, then when the shop owner tells you he's out of change, try to leave and a lady will ask you where the rice balls are. Go outside and find then next to the doors.)
  • Ebisu Pawnbroker (Rakunai) (Keep buying and selling items to raise the bond. Eventually the shop owner will ask of you to find someone interested in antiques. Find the guy in Rakunai, directly south of Fermented Goods. There will be a man standing near the wall you can talk to.)
  • Kasuga Okami (Keep eating and exiting, and beat some opponents at the end).
  • Kitchen Aoba Chef (Keep ordering, and for the final events choose any food, eat it, and it's done)
  • Greengrocer (Keep buying single items per session to max it out easily).
  • Rakugai Arms Dealer (Keep buying 1 item at the time, and keep repeating to fill the bond. After answering 3 questions the bond will be done, and it doesn't matter what you answer).
  • Palanquin Bearer (Keep riding in palanquions. Easy one as you need to rise 30 times anyway).
  • Bond with Momokawa Brothers (Shippoku Momokawa restaurant) (Keep eating, and at the end you will witness a scene. No matter the order of the answers, they all lead to the same outcome).

Friendship with NPC's

There are numerous bonds you can unlock/establish with NPC's throghout the game. Most of them comes from simply visiting some restaurant, some come from finishing the substories. This guide will help you find them all, and give you some tips on how to max out these bonds.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! - Friendships and Bondings

Battle

Man of Goodness & Greatness & Renown: Defeat 300 enemies that harass you on the streets.
Defeat a total of 300 enemies around the city. This one will probably happen naturally, it's by winning fights on the street.

Excavator & Spelunker & Speleologist: Clear Battle Dungeons 100 times.
You can enter Battle Dungeons from the Mibu Barracks, and when you start grinding for smithing you will for sure clear more.

Mugger & Taxman & Redistributor: Defeat 20 Golden Sneaks.
Golden Sneaks are rarely found around the city. It's a single enemy with a fox mask, which if you see, initiate a fight. They can spawn anywhere.

Skilled & Brutal & Climactic Fighter: Dispatch the final enemy with a Heat Action or special move 50 times.
Simply finish the last enemy with the Heat action. The heat action needs to defeat an enemy. This can be problematic if you don't think about it as you play, but if you do, it will happen easily.

Demolisher & Devastator & Annihilator: Destroy objects (improvised weapons) 50 times during a fight.
This can only be done when using Brawler style. Only then, if you start a fight next to some objects, you can pick them up and break them by attacking enemies. The best spot is in front of Uji Tea Parlor.

Third Division Recruit & Officer & Captain: Activate Trooper Abilities during fights 1500 times.
Combining various tasks across the city and grinding in Battle Dungeons, this will happen naturally. Some abilities are triggered automatically, the others, well, just keep activating them. It seems like a lot, but it's not that big of a deal.
